Brandon Musser: Piano Meets Hymn Review

“Knowing everything was in God’s hands gave me a positive outlook and motivation to write music,” said Brandon Musser about the chemotherapy treatment for his brain tumor. During this process, Brandon continued to do what he loves most – write music. A prodigy, Brandon has been playing music since he was nine, even garnering a degree in music at Christian Heritage College. So it only seems natural that his latest project from Syntax Records, Piano Meets Hymn is a reflection of the peace he had during his radiation.

Piano Meets Hymn is a powerful, inspiring, and serene collection of ten well-known hymns performed entirely on the piano – no extras. I’ve honestly heard plenty of hymnal instrumentals before, but Brandon Musser’s are exceptional. You’ll easily find yourself singing along with these hymns one at a time, beginning with “All Creatures of Our God and King,” and ending with “’Tis So Sweet to Trust In Jesus.” Along the way, you’ll be touched by the peace that resounds through each track, my favorites being the more upbeat “Come Thou Fount of Every Blessing” and the always-stunning  “For the Beauty of the Earth.”

If you’re a fan of instrumentals, piano music, or are looking for something to listen to during your quiet time, I highly recommend this album from Brandon Musser! As a piano player myself, I can guarantee you will be blown away by this amazing project!
