My Thoughts On Casting Crowns...

Last fall, Casting Crowns released Until the World Hears, and as much as I loved it and gave it a rave review, there was one thing I really missed... the thought-provoking lyrics! That was what I thought made Casting Crowns so unique. Their CD Lifesong was full of such lyrics, with songs such as "While You Were Sleeping," "Does Anybody Hear Hear," and "Stained Glass Masquerade." I miss these lyrics. Don't get me wrong: their latest project has some really good songs, but I missed the "call-to-action" songs very much. How about you? Do you like these songs, or do you prefer the lyrics of their previous albums?

From Until the Whole World Hears, here's my favorite song: "Always Enough." Enjoy!"

  1. Oh, yes, I know what you mean. I LOVE Casting Crowns for their creative call-to-action lyrics that spoke on very relevant issues before the church. I think that there is a time and a place for that, as well as for the other kinds of songs they've released. I do hope for more music from them on that vibe in the future. It's a place where not a whole lot of Christian artists take a stand. Everybody has a calling in a certain area to address certain things, but when NOBODY talks about these issues, something's wrong. So I'm glad Casting Crowns and a few others have taken a stand.

Ehe. I DID mean to answer your question, not write my own post. 0:)

  2. I love Casting Crowns, they are one of my favorite groups. I also miss the songs that have such in depth meaning.
I hope they go back to that style of writing.

My all time faves of them are:

    Praise you in this Storm

    Who am I?

    While you were sleeping

    From While you were sleeping:

    "United States of America
    Looks like another silent night
As we're sung to sleep by philosophies
That save the trees and kill the children"

For just a few sentences, what a statement!! Many seem to care more about being green rather than saving a baby's life.

  3. @Rena: Hi Rena! Nice meeting you! I totally agree -- I love those songs you mentioned from Casting Crowns, especially "While You Were Sleeping." I was really glad to hear it on the radio this Christmas season! I just love the profound message the band can give off in one song. They are great! :)
