Britt Nicole, "The Lost Get Found" CD review

Have you ever been to an amusement park where they blast worldly music and thought to yourself, “I wish they had Christian music like that?” Britt Nicole’s sophomore release The Lost Get Found is just that! My sister gave me this album as a gift, because I had heard the title track as well as, “Hold On”, and “Headphones”, and I had really liked what I had heard.

This CD is an excellent one, and it is full of the message of the gospel. The title track is a thought-provoking song that asks “Why don’t we rise up now/ don’t be afraid to stand up now/ that’s how the lost get found”. It speaks of stepping out of your comfort zone to witness for God.

One of my favorite tracks on this album is “How We Roll”. It speaks of not being like the others, and “not getting caught in the undertow.” “Safe” is a mellow song on this album that was co-written by Joy Williams. This song is about someone in your life that you know shouldn’t be in your life but it’s hard to get them out. “Hanging On” is a slower pop song about how important God’s words are to us. “Hanging on the every word You speak/ ‘Cause it’s all that I need/ Hanging on to every word You say/ To light up my way/ Even every little whisper/ I’m hanging on as if it were my life/ I’m hanging on.”

The song that prompted me to get this album is the pop/rock style (similar to Superchick style) "Headphones”. This song is an encouragement mainly to school-aged kids telling them to not listen to the critical words from others, but to put on your headphones and “love is coming through your headphones.” Probably my favorite song on this album is, “Welcome to the Show”. This is PERFECT for amusement parks. It compares an amusement park to our walk with Christ. “Hands high like a roller coaster/ This love is taking over/ Take us higher here we go/ Oh, oh, oh/ Welcome to the show/ Gravity we’re defying/ ‘Cause we were made for flying/ We’re about to lose control/ Welcome to the Show.”

The last track on the album “Have Your Way”, took a little time to grow on me, but because I love the way it builds, it didn’t take a while before I loved it. This song speaks of putting our problems into God’s hands and letting Him taking control of them. “So I’ll stop searching for the answers/ I’ll stop praying for an escape/ And I’ll trust You God with where I am/ And believe that You will have Your way/ Just have Your way/ Just have Your way.”

This CD is an excellent sophomore release. This album is about 95% pop and rock. Many songs on this album (especially “Welcome to the Show”, “Like A Star”, “Headphones”) are perfect for amusement parks. A few tracks took a little time to grow on me, but now I love them all. I loved this album so much that I wanted to immediately go out and get her album Say It, which I did not own yet. This album is unlike any music I have ever heard before!
